Summary

"This book will change your life if you let it。" -Tom Bilyeu, Co-Founder/CEO of Impact Theory & Co-Founder of Quest Nutrition

We are losing ourselves。 We're chasing the wrong things, asking the wrong questions, and polluting our minds。 It's time to stop, it's time to resist and it's time to rethink the fundamental social blueprint that our lives are built upon。

As an 18-year-old, black, broke, lonely, insecure, university drop-out, from a bankrupt family, I wrote in my diary that I wanted to be a 'Happy Sexy Millionaire' by the age of 25。 By 25 I was a multi-millionaire having created a business worth over $300m dollars。 Ironically, in achieving everything I set out to, I learnt that I was wrong about almost everything。。。 The world had lied to me。 It lied to me about how you attain fulfillment, love and success, why those things matter, and what those words actually mean。

In this book, I'll dismantle the most popular, unaddressed lies about happiness that we've been led to believe。 I'll expose the source of these lies, examine the incentives that fuel them and replace them with a practical set of scientifically proven and unconventional ideas that will help you to live a truly fulfilled life, a life full of the love you seek and the success you deserve。

I genuinely enjoyed this book so much and have already started recommending it to friends。 It’s an honest version of how you can go about bettering yourself and your life。 Rather than preaching the “if you can dream it, you can achieve it” ideals, Bartlett takes an honest approach towards hard work and accomplishing your dreams。 If you want something, you better be ready to work for it。 If you want to be the best at something, you need to accept your shortcomings and be honest with yourself。 It I genuinely enjoyed this book so much and have already started recommending it to friends。 It’s an honest version of how you can go about bettering yourself and your life。 Rather than preaching the “if you can dream it, you can achieve it” ideals, Bartlett takes an honest approach towards hard work and accomplishing your dreams。 If you want something, you better be ready to work for it。 If you want to be the best at something, you need to accept your shortcomings and be honest with yourself。 It focuses on constantly evolving and being honest with yourself, especially when it’s not easy。 Even if you’re not someone who hopes to be an entrepreneur, this book is still incredible useful。 The focus on making changes from the inside and doing the internal work is applicable to everyone。 I cannot recommend this book enough! 。。。more

3。5 stars。Granted, Steven has a unique story to tell and a totally new perspective as a very successful, young, rich CEO。 I like his writing style and some of the principles and ideas in the book are really interesting。 It’s also well researched and thorough, so props for that。But there are a lot of regurgitated ideas, anyone who reads a lot of business/success type books will see this, and it’s quite self congratulatory throughout, which I didn’t like so much。 Not that I think he should be humb 3。5 stars。Granted, Steven has a unique story to tell and a totally new perspective as a very successful, young, rich CEO。 I like his writing style and some of the principles and ideas in the book are really interesting。 It’s also well researched and thorough, so props for that。But there are a lot of regurgitated ideas, anyone who reads a lot of business/success type books will see this, and it’s quite self congratulatory throughout, which I didn’t like so much。 Not that I think he should be humble, but there are at least 7 mentions of his company’s valuation in the book and it gets to a point where you’re like “DUDE, we know” after 3 or 4 times。It’s a good entry-level business-focused self help book and you can’t deny his success, I just suppose I hoped for something a little less obvious。 。。。more

Deceiving title, great book。 Lots to go away and think about and definitely one to re-read at a later date。

The book was easy to digest, liked the graphs and quotes that broke the book down a bit more。

I follow Steven on LinkedIn and Instagram and really enjoy his content and podcast。 When I started reading his book, the first few chapters were largely unimpressive and repeated most of the ideas he posts day to day on LinkedIn。 A few chapters in I was thinking this would be a 3* book then I reached the chapters on skill stacking and sand timers representing the time we have left and thought that actually this book was worth 4*。 The last few chapters though were as disappointing as the first fe I follow Steven on LinkedIn and Instagram and really enjoy his content and podcast。 When I started reading his book, the first few chapters were largely unimpressive and repeated most of the ideas he posts day to day on LinkedIn。 A few chapters in I was thinking this would be a 3* book then I reached the chapters on skill stacking and sand timers representing the time we have left and thought that actually this book was worth 4*。 The last few chapters though were as disappointing as the first few so I opted for 3*。 This feels like a book for people who don’t read books。 A book for people who follow Steven religiously and an additional way for him to extract cash from his followers。 I felt as if by buying this book I’ve been played by this larger than life concept which is Steven Bartlett。 I played my insignificant role is him asserting his dominance in the field of marketing。 The book feels too crafted, too designed as part of his masterclass in personal branding。 It doesn’t feel authentic and it’s difficult to understand who Steven really is versus this persona who can sell books and podcasts and public speaking gigs。 I don’t get the impression that the lessons he teaches and the life he puts out are consistent。 。。。more

There are so many quotable gems in this book that I can’t choose just one to share with you。 So many self-help or self-development books are filled with either the extreme of hustle until you drop or don’t do anything but manifest。 Bartlett’s “Happy Sexy Millionaire” finds the middle ground between these two extremes and is full of authenticity: a stripping down of the ideals to see the reflection of truth in a filtered and fake society obsessed with reaching the next thing and getting as many “ There are so many quotable gems in this book that I can’t choose just one to share with you。 So many self-help or self-development books are filled with either the extreme of hustle until you drop or don’t do anything but manifest。 Bartlett’s “Happy Sexy Millionaire” finds the middle ground between these two extremes and is full of authenticity: a stripping down of the ideals to see the reflection of truth in a filtered and fake society obsessed with reaching the next thing and getting as many “likes” as possible。 I would highly recommend this book to anyone, no matter your goals or current position。 There is so much wisdom in this book and it’s so easy to read。 A true delight and a breath of fresh air in the self-development genre。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Highly recommend 。。。more

I am quite pessimistic when it comes to the books with titles like this one, but I heard a few friends say that the book is incredible, so I thought why not to try。They were completely right!Being a typical millennial myself I really enjoyed listening to someone my age, who is successful, reminding me that we chase after a lot of shallow things we think are important in life, but are actually not the ones we really need or want。The book is really grounding and brought me back to earth。 It actual I am quite pessimistic when it comes to the books with titles like this one, but I heard a few friends say that the book is incredible, so I thought why not to try。They were completely right!Being a typical millennial myself I really enjoyed listening to someone my age, who is successful, reminding me that we chase after a lot of shallow things we think are important in life, but are actually not the ones we really need or want。The book is really grounding and brought me back to earth。 It actually calmed me down, made me think that I shouldn't be so hard on myself and chase things that I think I care about。 It also made me think a lot about my life, career and what I do with the time I have。 What's better, a lot of the author's thoughts and conclusions are also supported with research, so the points made are not just opinionated。I believe, anyone dealing with a social pressure, aspiring to be more, trying his/her best to achieve more, should really read this book。 It will definitely help to put quite a few thing into a perspective that might give you that peace of mind you are so longing for。I highly recommend it。 。。。more

I found the first part of the book a bit scattered but the second half really settled in and shared some really good insights in a nice, informative manner。 A lot of the wisdom shared can be found in other books but the framing of this wisdom is different in this book and encourages you to challenge your thoughts which I really enjoyed。

So good, I’m going to reread it and make notes。 The book is about why we chase money/fame/followers/looking good, and why achieving them usually doesn’t make us happy。 There’s a lot of interesting stuff in there about Instagram culture and how it’s led to comparison, loneliness, etc and how we try to fit into other peoples ideas of success (buying a house by 30, getting married, having the ‘perfect’ relationship) which also makes us unhappy。 Definitely recommend if you’re someone whose always th So good, I’m going to reread it and make notes。 The book is about why we chase money/fame/followers/looking good, and why achieving them usually doesn’t make us happy。 There’s a lot of interesting stuff in there about Instagram culture and how it’s led to comparison, loneliness, etc and how we try to fit into other peoples ideas of success (buying a house by 30, getting married, having the ‘perfect’ relationship) which also makes us unhappy。 Definitely recommend if you’re someone whose always thinking ‘I’ll be happy once I’ve achieved x。’ 。。。more

Easy 5/5。 Such a refreshing read。 Bartlett dives into happiness, fulfillment, and relationships。 Being as successful as he is, I was always going to buy this and read it。 I could not put it down。 Not your usual self help guru book。 He speaks his truth and is very relatable。 Definitely recommend reading this。 Hard hitting, truthful quotes and honest, real talk about his life and experiences make the book so good。 It's great to see successful people as human, and not preaching some bullsh*t "wake Easy 5/5。 Such a refreshing read。 Bartlett dives into happiness, fulfillment, and relationships。 Being as successful as he is, I was always going to buy this and read it。 I could not put it down。 Not your usual self help guru book。 He speaks his truth and is very relatable。 Definitely recommend reading this。 Hard hitting, truthful quotes and honest, real talk about his life and experiences make the book so good。 It's great to see successful people as human, and not preaching some bullsh*t "wake up at 4am and work 14 hours"。 The focus here is on creating your passions and happiness, not finding it。 If you buy a book, make it this one。 。。。more

The last chapter was a real one。 It hit home。 Steven educated me in this book with numerous techniques from the use of proverbs, graphics, analogies, academic references, examples from his own life and of course but understanding the audience。

A very insightful and well thought out book。This will definitely change your mindset and perhaps your priorities! Puts a lot into perspective, excellent book

Ah Chapter 15。 I was 50-50 on this book and slightly unconvinced but Chapter 15 really clinched this as a 5 star for me。 Slow burn。 Eye opening read。

Mindset transformation。。。We all go through inevitable ups and downs in life。 I was no different。 I was struggling with the current state of the world and was trapped in a period of depression when I stumbled upon Steven’s podcast - Diary of a CEO。 Listening to his open, unashamed and honest thoughts on his life, his “success”, his wealth, his relationships and his own version of happiness, really opened my minds’ eye and transformed my mindset。This book is the epitome of those hours of knowledge Mindset transformation。。。We all go through inevitable ups and downs in life。 I was no different。 I was struggling with the current state of the world and was trapped in a period of depression when I stumbled upon Steven’s podcast - Diary of a CEO。 Listening to his open, unashamed and honest thoughts on his life, his “success”, his wealth, his relationships and his own version of happiness, really opened my minds’ eye and transformed my mindset。This book is the epitome of those hours of knowledge and beautiful thoughts he’s shared on his podcast。 Open your mind and take in the beautiful honest and feeling he shares in this book。 。。。more

I am currently listening to the audio version of this book (waiting on my copies to arrive in the mail)。 I first found Steven Bartlett through his podcast “The Diary Of A CEO” and was automatically hooked。 The conversations he has had and the points he brings up all helped me to look at things in life from a different lens。 I follow him on Instagram as well where he posts helpful life advice based on his personal experiences。 The level of attention and thought this man puts into everything he do I am currently listening to the audio version of this book (waiting on my copies to arrive in the mail)。 I first found Steven Bartlett through his podcast “The Diary Of A CEO” and was automatically hooked。 The conversations he has had and the points he brings up all helped me to look at things in life from a different lens。 I follow him on Instagram as well where he posts helpful life advice based on his personal experiences。 The level of attention and thought this man puts into everything he does is amazing。 From his social media posts to the podcast to this book。 As someone who grew up from nothing, achieved success you would think he would keep all his secrets of success to himself。 However, Steven does the opposite and I admire that about him。 I can tell just a few chapters into this audiobook that I will be highlighting a lot pages once I receive the physical copies of “Happy Sexy Millionaire”。 Highly recommend this book to anyone trying to better themselves or shift their perspective on life。 I have owned a couple of self-help books in the past, but this book should not be in that category。 I think this book is more than just a self-help book。 This book helps to bring light to what is truly important in life。 It does not try to feed you false ideas or hopes that we are normally conditioned to believe as a society。 。。。more

I LOVED this book。 There's a lot of great self-help out there but this book is unique as Steven uses his life experience and advice to address issues relevant to today's culture and society - e。g with the impact of technology, social media and increased globalisation。 So many pearls of wisdom that would be relevant to any readers, and I loved the collaboration with Jack Butcher where Steven's ideas are turned into simple visualisations。 An instant classic and a must read, and I'm keeping my fing I LOVED this book。 There's a lot of great self-help out there but this book is unique as Steven uses his life experience and advice to address issues relevant to today's culture and society - e。g with the impact of technology, social media and increased globalisation。 So many pearls of wisdom that would be relevant to any readers, and I loved the collaboration with Jack Butcher where Steven's ideas are turned into simple visualisations。 An instant classic and a must read, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a sequel :) 。。。more
